Movie Night (another B&W classic on the outdoor screen--for adults only) |
Dates are tentative and subject to change.
Romantic Movie Night was a "Hit"!

After several delays due to poor weather,
many Cantamar neighbors gathered at Maxine & Gus' house for a
backyard viewing under the stars of "Casablanca," the classic, romantic movie from 1949.
For some, it the first time seeing this classic movie, all the way through.
For others, it was a sweet reminder of this touching love story.
Everyone brought appetizers to share, so the snacks were delicious.
Plus, a popcorn wagon furnished the required traditional snack.

Bikers "on a roll" to Black Point Marina
for Lunch
A small, but enthusiastic group cycled their way down SW 87th Avenue to Black Point
for an invigorating and sunny afternoon.
Neighbors, parents and children wound down the bike path,
watching for gators along the way (they didn't find any!).
Once at Black Point, a delicious lunch was enjoyed by all,
including shrimp, fresh fish and burgers. And the parents even downed a few cool ones.

Halloween Party A Big Success!
Over 300 Cantamar residents in a wide array
of delightful and frightening costumes
enjoyed this years Halloween festivities.

There were a generous assortment of delectable desserts
and plenty of candy, along with cotton candy, popcorn and water.
Three lucky children won Toys R Us gift cards in the raffle.
There were also prizes for the Kids' Dance Contest and
Musical Chairs for the adults (which was quite aggressive, but humorous).
Many THANKS to Claudia and Jeff Grene for arranging the party this year.
And THANKS to the Homeowners' Association and
James Popadak from T&G Management for their assistance.
Also THANKS to all the homeowners who volunteered their time and/or
tables & chairs to make this all happen.
And lastly, THANKS to these local businesses
who donated prizes or materials for the party:
Books and Books in Coral Gables
Coldstone Creamery in Old Cutler Towne Center
Amy’s Hallmark in Old Cutler Towne Center
Starbucks in Old Cutler Towne Center
Publix in Old Cutler Towne Center

Great Turnout for Community-Wide Garage Sale
We had 15 homes participate in the
Community-wide Garage Sale on Saturday, October 17th.
And 3 homeowners set up tables in the common area
at the Main Entrance.

We had plenty of shoppers, too.
About 100 maps of the participating homes
were handed out at the Main Entrance.
Participating Homeowners seemed to be pleased
with the results.

Summer Ends With A Splash!
The clouds parted just in time and
we had a beautiful sunny Labor Day afternoon
for our End-of-Summer Splash.

We had a small, but enthusiastic crowd,
and the kids (and some adults) had great fun
on the water slide.
Pizza and sno-kones were enjoyed by all!

Memorial Day BBQ Rocks!
The Cantamar Memorial Day BBQ on Saturday, May 23rd, was a big success.
Over 70 residents celebrated at the pavilion at Black Point Marina.
The pavilion was comfortable and clean.

Gus and Adrian grilled burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers.
The HOA also provided drinks (soda, juice and water).
Residents supplied an amazing array of delicious salads and desserts.
Thanks to all who contributed.
There were a lot of fun activities including a bounce house for the kids.
Kids also fished, and played football and soccer.
The HOA provided bubbles, sunglasses, little flag balls and leis for the kids.
Many thanks to Maxine and Maria
for all their hard work in putting together this event.
They are (deservedly) taking the summer off,
but look forward to seeing everyone at the end-of-summer splash
(details to come).

Wine & Cheese Party A Rousing Event!

About 45 Cantamar residents enjoyed a convivial evening
of wine, cheese, appetizers and conversation
during the Wine & Cheese Party on April 24th.
We also had a "Name the Cantamar Rooster" contest at the party,
with homeowners writing their suggestions down and
placing them in a bowl, then one name was selected from the bowl.
The winning name was "Rocky."
Many thanks to Maxine & Maria for planning the event
and to Adrian for picking up the wine.
And a special thank you to Juan Izaguirre at Pantry Liquors
for the donation of a case of wine for the party.

An Egg-stra Special Easter Event
About 20 Cantamar families celebrated Easter early
at the Community Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 15.
The kids had a lot of fun and found all the eggs.
The obstacle course was a blast,
entertaining the children as well as the adults.
There were also snow cones for the kids
which brought smiles to their faces.

We collected 21 Easter baskets
which filled up the back of a patrol car.
The Cutler Bay police department will distribute them
to needy children in the after-care program
at Cutler Ridge Park.
Thanks to all who contributed.
And special thanks to Maxine & Maria
for another successful event!
