Cantamar Annual Meeting in August
Call For Board Nominations
Our Annual Meeting and Board Election is scheduled for August 12, 2009.
We would like to have a successful election this year.
In order to facilitate that, we are starting early to ask for
nominations or volunteers to run for the Board of Directors.
If you would like to nominate someone,
please be sure they are interested in serving.
Or, if you'd like to serve on the Board,
you may volunteer (nominate yourself).
To submit nominations,
please contact James Popadak, our property manager,
at 305-255-0900 or jpopadak@peoplepc.com.
Please include your (or your nominee's) contact information,
and a brief (no more than 200 words) campaign paragraph
stating any qualifications, why you want to run
and/or your vision for the community.
Note that your statement will be published on the Cantamar website,
and sent to all homeowners by letter and email.
Your contact information will not be published
unless you request it to be.
Proxies and Voting Certificates
All homeowners must have a Voting Certificate, specifying which homeowner
is designated to vote for the property, on file with the Association.
If you've already submitted one, you do not need to submit it again,
unless you wish to change the designation.
The Voting Certificate will be posted on the website prior to the election.
All nominations must be received by
July 10th, 2009.
Also prior to the election, all homeowners will be mailed a proxy form for this election.
Please return the proxy forms prior to the meeting to be sure
we get a quorum for a valid election.
The proxy forms will also be posted to the website once they are available.

Memorial Day BBQ Rocks!
The Cantamar Memorial Day BBQ on Saturday, May 23rd, was a big success.
Over 70 residents celebrated at the pavilion at Black Point Marina.
The pavilion was comfortable and clean.
Gus and Adrian grilled burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers.
The HOA also provided drinks (soda, juice and water).
Residents supplied an amazing array of delicious salads and desserts.
Thanks to all who contributed.
There were a lot of fun activities including a bounce house for the kids.
Kids also fished, and played football and soccer.
The HOA provided bubbles, sunglasses, little flag balls and leis for the kids.
Many thanks to Maxine and Maria
for all their hard work in putting together this event.
They are (deservedly) taking the summer off,
but look forward to seeing everyone at the end-of-summer splash
(details to come).

208th Street Update
At the March 25 Board Meeting, representatives from the Town of Cutler Bay
presented the county-approved plan for SW 208th Street,
includingreducing lanes from 5 to 2, on-street parkinganda bike lane.
Work will begin before the end of this fiscal year (September)
and should take 6-12 months to complete.

Wine & Cheese Party A Rousing Event!
About 45 Cantamar residents enjoyed a convivial evening
of wine, cheese, appetizers and conversation
during the Wine & Cheese Party on April 24th.
We also had a "Name the Cantamar Rooster" contest at the party,
with homeowners writing their suggestions down and
placing them in a bowl, then one name was selected from the bowl.
The winning name was "Rocky."

and to Adrian for picking up the wine.
