Annual Meeting & Election
Attention all owners! A Quorum is Needed!
Heads up!
The Annual Meeting and Election for the Cantamar Homeowners’ Association
will be held
August 11, 2010,
beginning with theSpecial Meeting at 7:00 pm,
followed immediately by theAnnual Meeting at 7:30 pm,
Palm Room, Palmetto Bay Village Center
18001 Old Cutler Road, Palmetto Bay.
We encourage all homeowners to become involved
by serving on the Board or Committees.
Nominations for the Board of Directors
will be accepted from the floor at the meeting.
Candidates should be role models in the community:
up to date with maintenance fees, void of violations, etc.
Prior to the Election of Directors at the Annual Meeting,
there will be a Special Meeting where
we will be voting on a change to the Association documents.
The change would add a provision to allow for the association and managing entity
to perform screening of potential renters in the community.
(NOTE that this is a change from what was said in the newsletter recently sent out.)
In addition, a rental deposit and current lease for a minimum of 1 year would be required.
There would be a reasonable fee charged for the screening process and background check.
NOTE that the petition that was circulated recently was NOT A VOTE.
Even if you signed the petition, you will still need to fill out your proxy and return it.
Your Board of Directors feels these are needed provisions
which will help clarify who is living in our neighborhood
and lead to better conditions of operation for the Association.
Therefore, it is vitally important that you fill out and return your proxy
to the Management Offices when you receive the meeting package.
Watch for it!
If a quorum is not established, we won’t be able to screen potential renters,
and the Board may have to consider other alternatives and options
to address safety and security, such as hiring off-duty police or a security firm.
This could substantially increase your monthly dues!
You should have received the meeting notice along with
Proxy forms and the Voting Certificate.
If you already have a Voting Certificate on file
and do not wish to make any changes,
you do not need to fill out a new one.
Note that the date on the Certificate mailed was incorrect.
If you are sending in the Certificate, please change the year to 2010
and initial the change (or download the corrected Certificate below).

At the June 9th Board of Directors meeting,
the Board approved the design and estimate
for new landscaping for the front entrance.

reviewed
and approved by the Board.

Romantic Movie Night was a "Hit"!
Many Cantamar neighbors gathered at Maxine & Gus' house for a
backyard viewing under the stars of "Casablanca," the classic, romantic movie from 1949.
Everyone brought appetizers to share, so the snacks were delicious.
Plus, a popcorn wagon furnished the required traditional snack.
